WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY GARNERS USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC LAURELS

NEW ORLEANS, La. - After compiling a team grade-point average of 3.43 during the fall semester, the Molloy College women’s cross country squad has been named a United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II All-Academic Team. The USTFCCCA released this announcement on Thursday, naming the Lions as one of 124 Division II schools to earn the prestigious award.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES 19TH AT NCAA EAST REGIONALS

BOSTON, Mass. - Senior Alexandra Barrett paced the Lions on Sunday with a 90th-place mark of 25:32.5, as the Molloy College women's cross country team wrapped up its 2011 season with a 19th-place run at the NCAA Division II East Region Championships, which was held at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. Overall, the maroon and white recorded 542 points at the meet. Stonehill College took home the regional hardware with a 57-point effort.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES FIFTH AT ECC CHAMPIONSHIPS

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - Senior Alexandra Barrett ended up in 13th-place in the 5k with a clocking of 20:55 on Sunday, as the Molloy College women's cross country squad finished in fifth at the East Coast Conference Championships, which were held at C.W. Post in Brookville, N.Y. For her efforts in the race, Barrett racked up second-team All-ECC recognition for the second time in as many years. The host Pioneers claimed the league title with 65 points.

ALBANY, N.Y. - Junior Shannen Fuertes directed the Lions on Saturday afternoon with a 20:43.3 clocking in the 5k, as the Molloy College women's cross country squad registered a 21st-place effort at the 45th-annual University at Albany Cross Country Invitational in Albany, N.Y. Overall, the Lions finished with 579 points at the meet.
