WATERBURY, Conn. (Oct. 31, 2009) - On Saturday, sophomore right-side hitter Angelica Nicalek (Valley Stream, N.Y.) raked 24 kills and 24 digs in two matches as the Molloy College volleyball team earned a split with Philadelphia University and Post University at Drubner Gymnasium in Waterbury, Conn. The Lions lost to the Rams by a 3-0 (17-25, 13-25, 19-25) count before beating the host Eagles, 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-18). With the results, Molloy went to 9-20 overall.

Match 1: Philadelphia 3, Molloy 0

For the Lions, Nicalek registered 10 digs and eight kills. Freshman setter Jennifer Koelbel (West Hempstead, N.Y.) dished 15 assists and notched a pair of kills. Freshman libero Stefani Koelbel (West Hempstead, N.Y.) recorded 15 digs. Junior outside hitter Arielle Wichard (Merrick, N.Y.) added three kills and two digs. Junior setter Kristen Sklarsky (Wantagh, N.Y.) had three kills and two digs. Sophomore middle hitter Catherine Russini (Westbury, N.Y.) posted an attack percentage of .231 (3 K, 0 E, 13 TA).

For the Rams (28-5), freshman setter/libero Mary Mancuso (Granby, Mass.) totaled eight digs and three kills. Senior defensive specialist Natalie Amodei (West Chester, Pa.) got 14 digs and five aces. Freshman middle hitter Ellie Edgar (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) amassed with six kills, four digs and two assists. Senior defensive specialist Cindy Adams (Fleetwood, Pa.) picked up 19 digs, four kills and two aces. Junior setter Lauren Hoover (New Baltimore, Mich.) passed a team-high 10 assists.

Match 2: Molloy 3, Post 1

In this contest, Nicalek posted a double-double for the Lions with her 16-kill, 14-dig effort. Russini amassed 11 kills, three digs and three block assists. Sklarsky earned 21 assists, four digs and three blocks. Stefani Koelbel sported 16 digs. Junior outside hitter Meaghan Meyer (East Meadow, N.Y.) posted five kills and three assists. Freshman outside hitter Liz Nugent (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) accumulated four digs, one kill and one assist.  Wichard contributed two kills and a block assist to the effort as well.

For the Eagles (9-22), freshman outside hitter Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) notched seven kills and seven digs, while serving up two aces. Freshman setter Bri-Ana Watson (Cheshire, Conn.) passed 22 assists and added nine digs. Sophomore outside hitter Courtney Bruan (Groton, Conn.) had eight digs and five kills. Sophomore middle hitter Elizabeth Knight (Queens Village, N.Y.) had four kills, three digs and two block solos.

Head Coach Kevin Quiambao and his squad return to action this Tuesday when Molloy hosts Caldwell College in its 2009 home finale at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
