WOMEN’S SOCCER WINS SECOND-STRAIGHT GAME AGAINST CALDWELL IN OVERTIME, 2-1

CALDWELL, N.J. (Sept. 10, 2009) - On Thursday afternoon, the Molloy College women's soccer team recorded its second-consecutive win as it triumphed over Caldwell College, 2-1, at Caldwell Field in Caldwell, N.J. With six-plus elapsed in the extra session, freshman midfielder Kylie Barbosa (Old Westbury, N.Y.) placed a corner kick that junior midfielder Dianna Geneva (Hicksville, N.Y.) headed in for the victory. The tally was Geneva's first of the season.

Similar to Wednesday's victory against Concordia, Molloy (2-4) jumped on the scoreboard early. Freshman forward Nicole Valentine (Massapequa, N.Y.) placed a header between the pipes in the seventh minute of play. Freshman midfielder Kaitlynn Kelly (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) was credited with the assist. The Cougars (0-3) tied the game though in the 32nd-minute when junior midfielder Morgan Frankenfield (Coplay, Pa.) threw in a ball that junior forward Jackie D'Orsaneo (Bowie, Md.) headed into the netting.

The two teams went into halftime with the score knotted at one. It would remain that way until the end of regulation. In net, graduate goalkeeper Christina Aquilon (Whitestone, N.Y.) recorded four saves for the Lions. As for the Cougars, junior goalie Lauren Hoenig (Howell, N.J.) and freshman netminder Kristina Cabales (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) combined for four stops.

While each team had four corner kicks, Molloy had the edge in shots, 13-12. Valentine tied for the game-high in shots with five (three SOG). In addition to an assist, Barbosa attempted four shots - two of which were on goal. As for Caldwell, D'Orsaneo led the way with five shots.

Head Coach Danny Longo and the Lions return to action this Saturday when they close out their short two-game road trip at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, Pa.  Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
