WEISS PLACES 94TH IN 6K AS WOMENS CROSS COUNTRY RUNS AT NCAA EAST REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS
BOSTON, Mass. Graduate Elizabeth Weiss notched a 94th-place showing in the 6k on Sunday afternoon to help the Molloy College womens cross country team to a 21st-place finish at the NCAA East Region Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. Overall, the Lions amassed a score of 556 points. Stonehill College and University of Massachusetts Lowell placed first and second, respectively, and secured a bid to the NCAA Division II National Championships.
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - Graduate Elizabeth Weiss ended in 14th-place in the 5k on Sunday to get the Molloy College womens cross country squad to a fourth-place run at the 2009 East Coast Conference Championships at C.W. Post in Brookville, N.Y. For her efforts, she took home All-ECC second-team honors. As a team, the Lions earned a total of 105 points. The Knights of Queens College edged out NYIT by one point for tops in the league.

Freshman Shannen Fuertes ran to a fifth-place showing in the 4k on Sunday with a time of 18:04.87 as the Molloy College womens cross country team came in second place at the St. Johns University Invitational at Cunningham Park in Fresh Meadows, N.Y. Overall, the Lions amassed 35 points. Dominican College beat the Lions out with a 20-point total. The Chargers had four of their runners cross in the Top-10 of the race.

Graduate Elizabeth Weiss recorded a clocking of 26:05.75 in the 6k on Saturday afternoon, which was good for 65th-place, to lead the Molloy College womens cross country team to a 15th-place result at the DeSales University Invitational in Center Valley, Pa. The Lions registered 466 points in the race. They trailed 14th-place team Lebanon Valley College by 76 points. Dickinson College won the invite as it totaled 83 points.

Overall, the Lions raked 45 points in the 5k, which was seven better than St. Josephs College. Molloy was led by exceptional showings from sophomore Alexandra Barrett and graduate Elizabeth Weiss. CLEVELAND, OHIO Last week, the Athletic Directors Association announced its recipients of the 2008-09 Academic Achievement Award for Division II, and Molloy College had 29 of its student-athletes recognized out of a total of 4,020 across 115 institutions. In order to obtain this honor, the student-athlete had to achieve a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better. They also needed to attend the institution for at least two years, and be a member of an intercollegiate team during his or her previous academic year.
