WOMENS CROSS COUNTRY PLACES FOURTH AT ECC CHAMPIONSHIPS; WEISS GETS ALL-ECC KUDOS

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 25, 2009) - Graduate Elizabeth Weiss (Oceanside, N.Y.) ended in 14th-place in the 5k on Sunday to get the Molloy College women's cross country squad to a fourth-place run at the 2009 East Coast Conference Championships at C.W. Post in Brookville, N.Y. For her efforts, she took home All-ECC second-team honors. As a team, the Lions earned a total of 105 points. The Knights of Queens College edged out NYIT by one point for tops in the league.
Freshman Jessica Eberhardt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was three behind Weiss with her 22:32.50 clocking. Freshman Alyssa Fuertes (Levittown, N.Y.) ripped the tape in 21st-place as she came in at a time of 22:52.60. The next to cross was freshman Alessandra Gennarini (Farmingdale, N.Y.), who ended up 25th (23:11.10). Freshman Stefanie Macaluso (Lynbrook, N.Y.) capped the Top-5 runners for Molloy with a 28th-place time of 23:26.50. Junior Alisa Chard (Anchorage, Alaska) added a 30th-place performance (23:34.50) in the Lions' effort.
Head Coach Al Kilfoyle and his squad return to action on November 7 when Molloy competes in its final run of the year in Boston, Mass. - the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships. The time of the women's race has yet to be determined. More information will be released as it becomes available.
