WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TIES FOR THIRD PLACE AT HOFSTRA INVITE

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (Sept. 5, 2009) - Graduate Elizabeth Weiss (Oceanside, N.Y.) placed 34th in the 5k on Saturday as the Molloy College women's cross country team came in third place at the 2009 Hofstra University Invitational at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Lions, who tied the Pioneers of C.W. Post, raked 110 points in the race. Former East Coast Conference rival Adelphi University took first place after registering 23 points and a total team time of 1:38:23.47.

Weiss crossed the finish line at a 21:46.06 clocking. Sophomore Alexandra Barrett (Levittown, N.Y.) came in next as last year's All-East Coast Conference second-team honoree registering a mark of 21:49.33. Ending up six behind her was freshman Alessandra Gennarini (Farmingdale, N.Y.). The Farmingdale native clocked in at 22:16.82, which was good for 41st-place. Freshman Jessica Eberhardt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) notched a 54th-place (22:57.51) showing. Freshman Alyssa Fuertes (Levittown, N.Y.) followed two seconds behind.

Head Coach Al Kilfoyle and his squad return to action this Saturday when Molloy competes at the C.W. Post Invitational in Brookville, N.Y. The gun is scheduled to go off at 10:30 a.m.
