MEN’S SOCCER COMES UP SHORT IN 2-0 LOSS TO NO. 3 MILLERSVILLE

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. (Sept. 12, 2009) - Scoreless at the break, the Molloy College men's soccer team gave up a pair of unanswered markers in the second stanza, and eventually fell to third-ranked Millersville University by a final of 2-0 on Saturday night at Biemesderfer Stadium in Millersville, Pa. Sophomore midfielder Pat Baffuto (Metuchen, N.J.) and junior forward Todd Grimm (McAlisterville, Pa.) earned the goals for the Marauders, who improved to 5-0 overall. As for the Lions, they fell to a record of 2-3-1 on the year.

Baffuto scored in the 60th-minute for the game's opening tally. On the play, the Metuchen native chipped a shot over the head of Molloy sophomore goaltender Carlos Barros (Mineola, N.Y.), and into the back of the mesh. Freshman midfielder Adam Keller (Lebanon, Pa.) was credited with the assist. Shortly thereafter, Millersville tacked on an insurance marker to notch a 2-0 advantage. Junior forward Todd Grimm (McAlisterville, Pa.) headed in a five-yarder on a feed from junior forward Kyle Loughlin (Washington, N.J.) for the goal.

In net, Barros turned aside a game-high three shots for the Lions. His counterpart, junior goalie Matt Langione (York, Pa.) made two saves for the Marauders, who owned a 15-8 margin in shots. On the other hand, Molloy sported a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Senior forward John-Paul Hughes (South Hempstead, N.Y.) and junior forward/midfielder Mike Adamcewicz (Hicksville, N.Y.) raked three shots apiece. Senior midfielder Jose Batista (Rego Park, N.Y.) added two shots.    

Head Coach Danny Longo and his squad continue their three-game road trip this Tuesday when Molloy heads to North Andover, Mass. for an ECC/NE-10 contest against Merrimack College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
