ALBANY, NY- The Molloy College men's and women's cross country teams ran in the 41st Annual UAlbany Cross Country Invitational on October 13. The Lions competed against 33 other Division I, II and III schools, many of who are ranked nationally and regionally.
The men were led by sophomore Matt Badamo (Floral Park, NY), who broke 30 minutes for the first time in his career, with a time of 29:56 (178th). Badamo was followed by freshman Neal Reff (Massapequa, NY) with a time of 30:38 (191st), while freshmen Patrick McCabe (Garden City Park, NY) and John Lynch (Oceanside, NY) finished 194th (30:52) and 195th (31:03), respectively. Junior Brian Gosioco (Bayside, NY) crossed the finish line in 215th place (32:59) and junior Tom Leninger (Merrick, NY) placed right after him (216th-33:07).
Senior Danielle Rita (East Meadow, NY) led the pack for the women with a time of 21:25 (168th place). Rita now holds eight of the ten fastest times in Molloy history. Freshman Danielle Mosca (Valley Stream, NY) finished in 189th place (22:20) and senior Brittney Clark (East Meadow, NY) crossed in 219th place (26:12). Rounding out the five women's runners were senior Jennifer Cavallo (Farmingdale, NY) who place 221st (25:09) and sophomore Samantha Portela (Merrick, NY) finished in 237th with a time of 28:27.
The Molloy College men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the East Coast Conference Championships on October 21 at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx, NY.
