NICALEK GARNERS ALL-ECC SECOND-TEAM ACCOLADES
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. The East Coast Conference recently released its year-end awards, and Molloy College sophomore right-side hitter Angelica Nicalek was recognized for her outstanding season with a spot on the All-ECC second-team. In 2009, the Valley Stream native paced the team in kills (349). She was also second in attack percentage (.232), and third in assists (29) and digs (239). Moreover, Nicalek ranked second in the league in kills per game (3.61).
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. Sophomore right-side hitter Angelica Nicalek registered a team-best 14 kills on Thursday night, but it was not enough as the Molloy College volleyball team lost by a 3-1 (15-25, 25-20, 20-25, 20-25) count at New York Institute of Technology in its 2009 season finale at Recreation Hall in Old Westbury, N.Y. She also earned 10 digs to get her 10th double-double of the year. With the loss, the Lions ended the campaign at 9-22 overall and 3-9 in East Coast Conference play.

On Tuesday evening, the Molloy College volleyball team lost its last home match of the 2009-10 campaign to Caldwell College by a final score of 3-0 (20-25, 16-25, 13-25) at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre, N.Y. With the victory, the Cougars improved to 19-11 on the season. Caldwell also extended its winning streak to eight straight. As for the Lions, they fell to an overall record of 9-21. Molloy has also dropped six of its last seven decisions.

On Saturday, sophomore right-side hitter Angelica Nicalek raked 24 kills and 24 digs in two matches as the Molloy College volleyball team earned a split with Philadelphia University and Post University at Drubner Gymnasium in Waterbury, Conn. The Lions lost to the Rams by a 3-0 (17-25, 13-25, 19-25) count before beating the host Eagles, 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-18). With the results, Molloy went to 9-20 overall. On Thursday, the Molloy College volleyball team lost its fourth-consecutive contest as it fell to East Coast Conference nemesis Dowling College, 3-0 (17-25, 19-25, 10-25), at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre, N.Y. With the defeat, the Lions dropped to 8-18 overall. They are also 3-8 versus league foes. As for the Golden Lions, they are now at 24-5 and 10-1 in the ECC.
