VOLLEYBALL LOSES SECOND STRAIGHT MATCH AT DOWLING, 3-0

OAKDALE, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2009) - On Tuesday evening, the Molloy College volleyball squad suffered its second-straight defeat in East Coast Conference action as it lost by a 3-0 (10-25, 11-25, 9-25) score to Dowling College at Dowling Gymnasium in Oakdale, N.Y. Despite the result, the Lions were headed up by sophomore right-side hitter Angelica Nicalek (Valley Stream, N.Y.). She raked nine kills and three digs. Freshman setter Jennifer Koelbel (West Hempstead, N.Y.) contributed 14 assists, six digs and a kill in the loss.

Freshman libero Stefani Koelbel (West Hempstead, N.Y.) had seven digs for Molloy, which fell to 6-14 and 2-4 in league play. Freshman outside hitter Jenna Faggione (Hicksville, N.Y.) registered three kills. Sophomore middle hitter Catherine Russini (Westbury, N.Y.) amassed two kills. Junior right-side hitter Tina King (Point Lookout, N.Y.) earned a dig, while junior outside hitter Arielle Wichard (Merrick, N.Y.) picked up three kills and one dig. Senior setter Kristen Sklarsky (Wantagh, N.Y.) contributed a pair of digs.

As for Dowling (14-4, 5-0 ECC), sophomore setter/opposite hitter Maja Potpara (Pljevlja, Montenegro) posted nine assists, eight kills, six digs and a trio of blocks. Senior outside hitter Patrycia Klekotka (Siedice, Poland) totaled eight kills, eight aces and three digs. Junior setter Erin Przybylowicz (Ridley Park, Pa.) accumulated 17 assists to go with four aces and four digs. Freshman outside hitter Bethany Shepard (Lakewood, Colo.) compiled six kills, six digs and one service ace. Overall, the Golden Lions hit .426 for the night.
