ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- Freshman Arielle Wichard (Merrick, NY) recorded 18 kills to help lead the Molloy College volleyball team to a 3-2 conference victory over the Pioneers of C.W. Post on October 23. With the victory, the Lady Lions increase their overall record to 13-13 and their ECC record to 3-4, while the Pioneers drop to 14-14 and 4-3.

The Lady Lions started the match slowly as they dropped game one 30-17 but fought back and took game two, 30-27. A kill by Wichard cut Molloy's deficit to one (19-18) in game three but C.W. Post went on a 11-6 run to grab the game, 30-24. The Lady Lions trailed 25-18 in game four but Molloy did not give up and Wichard's kill tied the game at 29. Wichard's notched two more kills and an attack error by the Pioneers allowed the Lady Lions to take game four, 31-29. Both teams battled back and forth for the game five victory but Molloy came away with the win when Wichard knocked down a kill and freshman Laura Haynes (Garden Cuty, NY) recorded an ace.

Wichard led all players with 19 kills, while Haynes and senior Diann Drury (Bellmore, NY) each had nine kills. Freshman Kara Kerley (Wantagh, NY) handed out 22 assists and junior Danielle Sekesan (Hicksville, NY)Monika Rodziewicz (Gdansk, Poland) led the Lady Lions with 29 digs and Wichard added 18 digs.

The Lady Lions will continue ECC action as they travel to Mercy College on October 25 for a 7:00 PM match.
