WEISS COMES IN SIXTH PLACE IN 5K AS WOMENS CROSS COUNTRY RUNS TO FIFTH AT MSMC INVITATIONAL

NEWBURGH, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2009) – Graduate
Elizabeth Weiss (Oceanside, N.Y.) finished in
sixth place in the 5k on Saturday afternoon as the Molloy College
women’s cross country team recorded a fifth-place showing at
the Blue Knight Invitational, which took place at Chadwick Lake
Park in Newburgh, N.Y. Weiss notched a time of 22:25.12 in the
race. Overall, the Lions registered 114 points. Union College took
first place at a total of 49 points as the Dutchmen had four of
their runners in the Top-15.
Following Weiss’ close, the ensuing three runners for Molloy
came in succession. Freshman Shannen Fuertes (Levittown,
N.Y.) earned a 23rd-place run (23:59.93). Freshman
Jessica Eberhardt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) took home
24th-place honors as she jogged in at 23:59.94. Senior
Danielle Mosca (Valley Stream, N.Y.) wrapped up
the trio as she posted a time of 24:00.53. Freshman
Alessandra Gennarini (Farmingdale, N.Y.) capped
off the Top-5 for the Lions in 36th-place at a mark of
24:36.06.
Head Coach Al Kilfoyle and his squad return to action next
Saturday when Molloy travels to Center Valley, Pa. for the 2009
DeSales University Invitational. The race is slated to begin at
10:30 a.m.
