CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 20, 2009) - The East Coast Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday, and Molloy College women's soccer senior defender Kate-Lynn Muir (Westbury, N.Y.) received player of the week accolades for her heroic play this past Saturday in a 3-2 double-overtime victory against 12th-ranked University of Bridgeport. In the 101st-minute, she found the top right corner of the goal to clinch a win for the Lions.
The tally was Muir's first of the season. The Westbury native also has eight shots this year with three coming on goal. With the victory, Molloy improved to 5-8 overall and 3-2 in the league. The Lions are currently tied for fourth place with the Knights of Queens College as they battle for a spot in the ECC Tournament.
Head Coach Danny Longo and his squad return to the field tomorrow when Molloy travels to Brookhaven, N.Y. to take on ECC arch-rival Dowling College. The opening kick is slated for 7 p.m.
