WOMEN’S SOCCER SLOTTED SIXTH IN ECC PRESEASON BALLOT

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Aug. 21, 2008) - On Tuesday afternoon, the East Coast Conference publicized its women's soccer coaches' poll, and Molloy College is ranked sixth out of 10 teams in the league tally. In 2007, the Lady Lions sported an overall record of 6-10-1 with a 4-6 ledger in ECC play. They also out-shot their opponents by a 270-248 count.

At the conclusion of last year, defender/midfielder Joanna Taylor (Seaford, N.Y.) earned All-East Coast Conference second-team accolades. She appeared in all 17 contests and totaled a team-leading 15 points off of seven goals and one assist. Six of those tallies also proved to be game-winners. Midfielder Kristie Caruso (Whitestone, N.Y.) was second on the team in scoring in 2007 with 14 points on four goals and six assists.

Last season's ECC champion, C.W. Post, is expected to win the title for the second year in a row as it came out on top in the poll. The Pioneers also raked in the East Coast Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year award as sophomore defender Anna Svensson (Stockholm, Sweden) was tagged with the honor.
