THREE WOMEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS BRING HOME ALL-CONFERENCE RECOGNITION

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 9, 2008) - On Sunday, the East Coast Conference announced its year-end women's soccer award winners, and senior defender/midfielder Joanna Taylor (Seaford, N.Y.) was selected to the second-team, while senior keeper Christina Aquilon (Queens, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Dianna Geneva (Hicksville, N.Y.) earned third-team prestige. In 2008, the Lions posted an overall record of 8-7-2 and an ECC ledger of 5-4.

Although she helped Molloy limit the opposition to just 18 goals, Taylor served as the leading scorer for the Lions with 11 points off of five goals and one assist. Four of those markers have also proved to be game-winners. In addition, she received All-ECC second-team praise for her efforts during the 2007 campaign.

Aquilon, who was thrice named the East Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Week this season, notched a mark of 8-5-2 with nine shutouts. She also turned aside 73 shots, while posting a 0.80 goals-against average and an .859 save percentage. Moreover, Aquilon registered a game-high in saves in eight of the 15 games that she appeared in for Molloy.

As for Geneva, she had one assist and played strong at the defensive midfield position in 16 games. She also recorded a .571 shot-on-goal percentage after collecting four SOG on seven total shots attempted.
