CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 5, 2008) - The East Coast Conference publicized its weekly award-winners for women's soccer on Monday, and senior Christina Aquilon (Queens, N.Y.) picked up East Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Week accolades following a showing, where she posted shutouts versus Chestnut Hill College and Queens College.
This marks the third time that she has won the honor after earning it on September 8 and 22. Last Monday, Aquilon knocked down three shots in a 2-0 win against the Griffins. Five days later, she turned aside a game-high five shots as the Lions downed the Knights in their regular-season finale, 1-0, in overtime.
In 2008, Aquilon sports a record of 8-5-2 with nine shutouts. She has also made 73 saves and compiled a goals-against average of 0.80. Moreover, Aquilon owns a .759 save percentage in 1,348-plus minutes of action, while yielding less than two tallies per game since September 2.
Molloy closed out the regular season with an overall mark of 8-7-2 and an East Coast Conference ledger of 5-4. The Lions will now await word on a possible bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division II Championship. The bracket is scheduled to be released on Monday.
