AQUILON GARNERS ECC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Sept. 8, 2008) - The East Coast Conference announced its weekly award-winners on Tuesday, and Molloy College senior goalkeeper Christina Aquilon (Queens, N.Y.) was named the defensive player of the week by the league. This marks the first honor for a member of the Molloy women's soccer team in the 2008 campaign.
On Friday afternoon, Aquilon stopped a game-high eight shots in helping the Lions to a 1-0 victory over the Hawks of Saint Anselm College in their home opener at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Overall, Aquilon is sporting a 1-2 record this year with 21 saves, a 1.65 goals-against average and an .840 save percentage.
Head Coach Danny Longo and his squad return to action next Monday when they wrap up a short two-game homestand against Caldwell College. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
