WOMEN’S SOCCER TAKES VICTORY OVER NYIT

OLD WESTBURY, NY- Three different Lady Lions scored as the Molloy College women's soccer team defeated the Bears of NYIT on October 20. The 3-1 conference victory improves the Lady Lions overall record to 6-8-1 and their ECC record to 4-4, while the Bears drop to 5-11 and 2-6.

Freshman Charlotte Laurie (Huntington, NY) started the scoring for Molloy when she netted a goal six minutes into the game. Five minutes later, freshman Dianna Geneva (Hicksville, NY) extended the Lady Lions edge to two when her header found the back of the net off a cross by junior Kelly LaClair (Lindenhurst, NY). NYIT placed their lone goal on the scoreboard off a penalty kick with 45 seconds left in the first half. Molloy's final goal of the game came four minutes into the second half when junior Gillian Fortune (Westbury, NY) assisted on junior Joanna Taylor's (Seaford, NY) goal.

Sophomore Paula Sanelli (Longwood, NY) recorded three saves in goal for Molloy, while NYIT's Jenna Ament made six saves.

The Lady Lions will host C.W. Post on October 23 for their last regular season home game. The ECC game will begin at 6:00 PM.
