BRIDGEPORT DEFEATS WOMEN’S SOCCER

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- Junior Joanna Taylor (Seaford, NY) scored the lone goal for the Lady Lions as the Molloy College women's soccer team was defeated by the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport on October 5 at the John A. Darcy Field. The 3-1 conference loss drops the Lady Lions to 4-8-1 and 2-4 in the East Coast Conference, while the Purple Knights improve to 10-5 and 5-1.

Taylor's goal came in the first three minutes of the game when she knocked a loose ball in the box into Bridgeport's net. Seven minutes later, the Purple Knights tied the game at one when Sofia Hoflin converted a penalty kick. Bridgeport took the 2-1 lead in the 18th minute when Hoflin notched her second goal of the game. Fifteen minutes into the second half, Hoflin recorded a hat trick and gave the Purple Knights a 3-1 lead.

Junior Christina Aquilon (Queens, NY) made five saves for Molloy, while Bridgeport's Elina Yletyinin had five saves.

The Lady Lions will travel to NYIT on October 13 for a 1:00 PM ECC game.
