ADELPHI DEFEATS WOMEN’S SOCCER

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- The Molloy College women's soccer team fell to the Panthers of Adelphi University on October 3 at the John A. Darcy Field. The 4-1 ECC loss drops the Lady Lions to 4-7-1 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while the Panthers improve to 6-4 and 3-2.

Adelphi's first goal of the game came in the 15th minute when a cross by Amanda Popoli found the head of Brianne McDonnell. The Panthers took a 2-0 edge when Denise Auer found the back of the net at the 32:23 minute mark.

Six minutes into the second half, the Lady Lions cut their deficit to one (2-1) when freshman Dianna Geneva (Hicksville, NY) placed the ball in the right corner of Adelphi's net off a cross by junior Megan Carlson (Levittown, NY). However, Adelphi's Popoli and Auer would each score their second goals of the game to give the Panthers a 4-1 advantage. Junior Christina Aquilon (Queens, NY) made eight saves in net for Molloy, while Christine Conway recorded five saves for Adelphi.

The Lady Lions remain home and will take on the University of Bridgeport on Friday, October 5. The East Coast Conference game will begin at 3:00 PM.
