WOMEN’S SOCCER SHUTS OUT MERCY

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- Junior Megan Carlson (Levittown, NY) assisted on two of the Lady Lions five goals during the 5-0 conference victory over the Mavericks of Mercy College on September 29 at the John A. Darcy Field. The Lady Lions increase their overall record to 4-6-1 and their conference record to 2-2, while the Mavericks drop to 0-3 and 0-3.

Junior Kristie Caruso (Whitestone, NY) started the scoring for Molloy when she found the back of the net after 26 minutes of play. The Lady Lions held the 1-0 advantage at halftime but increased their lead to two when freshman Christine Johnsen (Rockville Centre, NY) scored off a through ball from junior Kelly LaClair (Lindenhurst, NY) in the 48th minute. Junior Joanna Taylor (Seaford, NY) converted a corner by Carlson and gave the Lady Lions a 3-0 edge at the 51:55 minute mark. Less than two minutes later, Carlson assisted on freshman Dianna Geneva's (Hicksville, NY) goal. The last goal for the Lady Lions came from junior Kristyn O'Brien (Valley Stream, NY) off a pass from freshman Charlotte Laurie (Huntington, NY) as 8:37 remained on the clock. Junior Christina Aquilon (Queens, NY) made one save in net for Molloy, while Catherine Kowalski recorded 18 saves for the Mavericks.

The Lady Lions will remain home to host Adelphi University on October 3 for a 6:00 PM ECC game.
