WOMENS LACROSSE SIGNS A PAIR TO NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. Head Womens Lacrosse Coach Tom Campolettano of Molloy College has publicized the inking of two players to National Letters of Intent for the 2011 season. Samantha Arlotta and Jessica Teves will be joining the Lions in the Fall 2010 semester. Arlotta comes from a strong program at St. Marys High School, which won a CHSAA title, while Teves plays at Calhoun High School.
WANTAGH, N.Y. The Molloy College baseball, softball and womens lacrosse teams participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer five-mile walk last Sunday at Jones Beach in Wantagh, N.Y. The American Cancer Society puts this event together annually to help for raising awareness and funds for a great cause. As for "Making Strides", the walk has described the amazing progress everyone is making to put an end to the severe disease.

The Intercollegiate Womens Lacrosse Coaches Association recently released its Division II All-Academic Team, and three student-athletes from Molloy College were placed on the roster. Those Lions were senior defender Kelly LaClair, senior midfielder Kristin Lang and junior defender Samantha Modik. In order to be recognized, the nominee must have been in the Top-10 percentile of their team or achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

GRAND LAKE, Colo. On Sunday evening, the Intercollegiate Womens Lacrosse Coaches Association presented Academic Squad accolades to nine Division II schools, and Molloy College was one of those selected. In order to qualify for the honor, the team must have raked a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or greater. West Chester University, Gannon University and Belmont Abbey College respectively had the three highest averages, which had them tabbed as IWLCA Merit Squads for 2009.

CLEVELAND, OHIO Last week, the Athletic Directors Association announced its recipients of the 2008-09 Academic Achievement Award for Division II, and Molloy College had 29 of its student-athletes recognized out of a total of 4,020 across 115 institutions. In order to obtain this honor, the student-athlete had to achieve a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better. They also needed to attend the institution for at least two years, and be a member of an intercollegiate team during his or her previous academic year.

ORLANDO, Fla. From May 24-27, sophomore Jackie Bove and sophomore Lincoln Nembhard of the respective Molloy College womens and mens lacrosse teams went to the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association Student-Athlete Development Convention in Orlando, Fla. The convention, which was themed as A Journey of Self-Discovery, turned out to be quite an experience for both student-athletes.

The rosters were recently publicized for the 2009 Intercollegiate Womens Lacrosse Coaches Association/Under Armour Division II North-South Senior All-Star Game, which will take place on Saturday, June 13 at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa. Picked to lead the 16-member North side is fourth-year Head Coach Tom Campolettano from Molloy College. Joining him on the sideline is rival Adelphi University Head Coach Joe Spallina.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. This past week, the National Collegiate Athletic Association announced junior midfielder Kristie Sosnowski of the Molloy College womens lacrosse team as the 2009 NCAA Division II Statistical Champion for draw controls. She receives this prestigious accolade following a campaign that saw her post an average of 8.43 draws per game. Sosnowski also registered 38 points in the process off 31 goals and seven assists to go with her 41 ground balls.

Sophomore midfielder Kristie Sosnowski and senior defender Kelly LaClair each took home first-team kudos. Junior attacker Rebecca LaFlare garnered All-ECC distinction as well after being placed on the second-team.

Junior midfielder Kristie Sosnowski and junior attacker Rebecca LaFlare notched three points apiece on Saturday afternoon, but it did not get the job done as the Molloy College womens lacrosse team suffered a 19-7 defeat at the hands of No. 1 ranked Adelphi University at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Sosnowski raked a goal and two assists, while LaFlare scored a team-best three tallies.
