SEPE SELECTED AS ECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 24, 2009) – On Monday afternoon, the East Coast Conference announced its weekly award-winners for women’s lacrosse, and freshman attacker/midfielder Gina Sepe (Deer Park, N.Y.) earned rookie of the week accolades from the league. She receives the honor after amassing six points on four goals and two assists in a 24-10 win against Holy Family University on Saturday in Philadelphia, Pa. This also marks the first award for the Molloy women’s lacrosse team from the ECC this season.

Sepe is putting together quite a rookie campaign in 2009. She is currently sixth on the team, and leads all Lion freshmen with 12 points off of eight goals and four assists. Sepe is also positioned 80th in the country in assists (4.0) and 91st in assists per game (0.67). Amongst the East Coast Conference, she has found herself in an 11-way tie with one game-winning goal. Furthermore, Sepe has notched a .857 shot-on-goal percentage thus far in addition to six draw control victories and five ground balls.

Head Coach Tom Campolettano and the Lions return to the field this Saturday when they travel to Ann Arundel, Md. for a non-conference battle with Pfeiffer University. The opening draw is scheduled for 11 a.m.
