SEPE SELECTED AS ECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 24, 2009) – On
Monday afternoon, the East Coast Conference announced its weekly
award-winners for women’s lacrosse, and freshman
attacker/midfielder Gina Sepe (Deer Park, N.Y.)
earned rookie of the week accolades from the league. She receives
the honor after amassing six points on four goals and two assists
in a 24-10 win against Holy Family University on Saturday in
Philadelphia, Pa. This also marks the first award for the Molloy
women’s lacrosse team from the ECC this season.
Sepe is putting together quite a rookie campaign in 2009. She is
currently sixth on the team, and leads all Lion freshmen with 12
points off of eight goals and four assists. Sepe is also positioned
80th in the country in assists (4.0) and 91st in assists per game
(0.67). Amongst the East Coast Conference, she has found herself in
an 11-way tie with one game-winning goal. Furthermore, Sepe has
notched a .857 shot-on-goal percentage thus far in addition to six
draw control victories and five ground balls.
Head Coach Tom Campolettano and the Lions return to the field this
Saturday when they travel to Ann Arundel, Md. for a non-conference
battle with Pfeiffer University. The opening draw is scheduled for
11 a.m.
