LACLAIR, LANG AND MODIK NAMED TO IWLCA DIVISION II ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

GRAND LAKE, Colo. (Sept. 4, 2009) - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association recently released its Division II All-Academic Team, and three student-athletes from Molloy College were placed on the roster. Those Lions' were senior defender Kelly LaClair (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), senior midfielder Kristin Lang (Hicksville, N.Y.) and junior defender Samantha Modik (Levittown, N.Y.). In order to be recognized, the nominee must have been in the Top-10 percentile of their team or achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or better. 

LaClair, a Nursing major, closed out the 2009 season with four points (1 G, 3 A). She also picked up 44 draws, 38 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. In addition, LaClair was positioned 33rd in the nation and fifth in the East Coast Conference in draw controls per game (2.6). Lang, who pursued a degree in Nursing, registered 18 points off of 10 goals and eight assists in 15 contests played (14 starts). She also amassed 27 ground balls, 11 draw controls and four caused turnovers, while taking 23 shots (20 SOG).

As for Modik, she played in 16 games (six starts). The Criminal Justice major ended the year with eight ground balls and one caused turnover. As a squad, Molloy had 216 goals to go with 336 ground balls, 259 draws and 97 caused turnovers. It also notched a .761 (172-for-226) clear percentage and a .401 shot percentage.
