WOMENS LACROSSE STIFLES ASSUMPTION COLLEGE, 19-5

WORCESTER, MA- Sophomore Kristina Wargo (Hicksville, NY), freshman Maria Varricchio (Massapequa, NY) and sophomore Kristie Sosnowski (Massapequa Park, NY) all recorded six points during the Molloy College women's lacrosse victory over the Greyhounds of Assumption College on April 20. The 19-5 non-conference victory improves the Lady Lions to 10-4, while the Greyhounds fall to 1-13.
During the first nine minutes of the game, Molloy had placed four goals on the scoreboard. Assumption scored their first goal of the game as 12 minutes had ticked off the clock (4-1). However, the Lady Lions defense would not let the Greyhounds score again in the first half, while Molloy's offense notched seven goals for the 11-1 halftime lead. The second half saw Molloy record eight goals and Assumption placed four between the pipes. During the 19-5 victory, junior Carmen Sanfilippo (Hicksville, NY) and freshman Jackie Bove (North Massapequa, NY) combined for nine saves in net for the Lady Lions. Wargo finished the game with four goals and two assists, while Varricchio pitched in with two goals and four assists. Sosnowski had three goals and three assists and sophomore Rebecca LaFlare (Lindenhurst, NY) added three goals and an assist.
The Lady Lions return home to take on Gannon University on Sunday, April 27. The non-conference game will begin at 11:00 AM.
