WOMEN’S BASKETBALL GETS VOTES IN PRESEASON USA TODAY/ESPN DIVISION II POLL

LILBURN, Ga. (Nov. 4, 2009) - On Wednesday morning, the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association released the inaugural USA Today/ESPN Division II poll for the 2009-10 season, and Molloy College collected two votes in the tally. Other teams from the East Coast Conference to get votes were Dowling College and Queens College, which scored five and three, respectively. Northeast-10 Conference foes Franklin Pierce University and Stonehill College were ranked in the Top-10, and are on the schedule for the Lions this year.

In 2008-09, Molloy recorded a program-best overall ledger of 21-7 and an East Coast Conference mark of 14-4. It also kicked off the year with an eight-game winning streak. Forward Kymira Woodberry (Hyde Park, Mass.) averaged a double-double at 17.6 points and 12.1 boards per game. She also shot 50.1 (189-for-377) percent from the floor. For her efforts, Woodberry claimed All-ECC and All-Met first-team honors. Forward E.J. Dreyer (Floral Park, N.Y.) got a team-high 97 steals, and was picked to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team.

Head Coach Tim O'Hagan and the Lions commence a new year on November 17 when they battle Wilmington University in their home opener at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. You can follow all of the progress via Live Stats as well by clicking here.
