WOMENS BASKETBALL PROJECTED SECOND IN ECC PRESEASON CENSUS

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 6, 2009) - The Molloy College women's basketball team was selected to come in second place out of eight teams in the East Coast Conference according to its preseason poll, which was released on early Wednesday afternoon. The Lions received 49 points and two first-place votes. They are coming off of a season that saw them register a program-best mark of 21-7 overall and a ledger of 14-4 in league play. Dowling College was picked to capture the crown as it raked in 57 points and four first-place nods.
Graduate guard Christie Marrone (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the Golden Lions took home ECC Preseason Player of the Year accolades to add to the top projection for Dowling. Defending league champion Queens College got third as the Knights picked up 46 points and one first-place vote. C.W. Post came in right behind with 45 points. The Pioneers ended off the 2008-09 season at 13-14 overall. University of Bridgeport got a first-place vote, and wrapped up the projected Top-5 for the East Coast Conference with 39 points.
Head Coach Tim O'Hagan and his squad kick off the 2009-10 campaign on November 17 when Molloy clashes with Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Wilmington University in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
