WOODBERRY TABBED AS ALL-MET FIRST-TEAM SELECTION

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Apr. 14, 2009) – The
Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association recently handed out its
year-end accolades for Division II women’s basketball, and
junior forward Kymira Woodberry (Boston, Mass.)
received first-team praise. This marks the second year in a row
that Woodberry picked up recognition from the All-Met committee.
This season, she helped lead the Molloy College women’s
basketball team to a program-best overall record of 21-7 and an
East Coast Conference mark of 14-4.
Woodberry averaged a double-double with 17.6 points and 12.1
rebounds per match. She also was 189-for-377 (50.0 percent) from
the field. In addition, Woodberry raked in 64 steals, 54 assists
and 23 blocks. Amongst the nation, she was slotted fourth in
rebounds per contest, 47th in points per contest, 58th in
field-goal percentage (50.3) and 88th in steals per game (2.3).
In the ECC, Woodberry was positioned in the Top-10 in seven
different categories – including scoring average, rebounding
average, field-goal percentage, steal average, offensive rebound
average (3.89), defensive board average (8.18) and minutes played
per game (32.07). Moreover, Woodberry earned her 1,000th career
point versus Le Moyne College on December 29 in San Diego,
Calif.
Lastly, she has amassed 1,376 points through a three-year career,
which ranks eighth all-time at Molloy. Woodberry will need 356
points in her senior campaign to surpass Donna Lohrey, who totaled
1,731 points from 2002-06, for first place.
