WOODBERRY PICKED TO ECC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 9, 2009) - On Monday, the East Coast Conference put out its All-Tournament Team for women's basketball, and junior forward Kymira Woodberry (Boston, Mass.) was one of five players on the ballot. In two post-season contests, she recorded a double-double per game with 13.5 points and 10.5 boards. Woodberry was also a combined 54.2 percent shooter from the field.
Last Wednesday, she picked up 14 points on 7-of-14 shooting and 12 rebounds as the third-seeded Lions beat the No. 6 seed Panthers of Adelphi University by a score of 67-49 in a quarterfinal contest at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Then, in the semifinal round on Saturday, Woodberry notched a team-high 14 points for Molloy in a 58-56 loss to second-seeded Dowling College in Garden City, N.Y.
In 2008-09, she averaged 17.6 points and 12.1 rebounds per match-up. Woodberry was also 189-of-377 (50.1 percent) from the floor. Furthermore, she was named to the All-ECC first-team for her efforts during the year. Nationally, Woodberry ranked fourth in rebounds per game, 41st in points per game and 72nd in steals per game (2.5). As for the league, she was positioned in the Top-5 in six different statistical categories.
Head Coach Tim O'Hagan and the Lions closed out the season with a program-best record of 21-7 and an East Coast Conference mark of 14-4. Molloy will return to action in November of 2009 to improve on a highlight-reel campaign, and get back to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
