WOODBERRY EARNS ALL-ECC FIRST-TEAM RECOGNITION

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 3, 2009) - For the third consecutive season, junior forward Kymira Woodberry (Boston, Mass.) got a postseason honor from the East Coast Conference. The league announced her as a first-team selection on the All-ECC Women's Basketball Team on Tuesday afternoon. She receives the accolade after putting together a year, which saw her register a double-double per game with 18.0 points and 12.2 rebounds.

Woodberry's rebound average ranks fourth-best in the country, while her scoring average is 41st. She is also slotted in the Top-100 in two other categories. Woodberry is 68th in Division II in field-goal percentage (.494) and 72nd in steals per game (2.5). As for the conference, she is second in points and rebounds per contest, fourth in steals per game, fifth in field-goal percentage, eighth in average minutes played (32.77) and 11th in blocked shots per contest (0.8). 

In 2008-09, Woodberry collected 19 double-doubles, and was dubbed the ECC and All-Met Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week on January 6. She also posted her 1,000th career point in a 69-66 victory over Le Moyne College on December 29 in San Diego, Calif. 

Woodberry is joined on the first-team by Queens College sophomore guard Amanda Bartlett (Mesa, Ariz.), University of Bridgeport junior forward Shannon Malone (Melbourne, Australia) as well as Dowling College senior forward Molly Tubridy (Broad Channel, N.Y.) and graduate guard Christie Marrone (Brooklyn, N.Y.)

Head Coach Tim O'Hagan and the Lions have notched the No. 3 seed in the East Coast Conference Tournament. They will host sixth-seeded Adelphi University on Wednesday night in quarterfinal action at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
