WOODBERRY PICKS UP 11th DOUBLE-DOUBLE AS WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TAMES THE GOLDEN LIONS OF DOWLING

OAKDALE, NY- Sophomore Kymira Woodberry (Boston, MA) picked up her eleventh double-double of the season as the Molloy College women's basketball game defeated the Golden Lions of Dowling College on January 30. The Lady Lions now hold a 10-9 overall record and an 8-4 East Coast Conference record, while Dowling drops to 3-15 and 2-10.

Seven minutes into the game, Dowling held the 17-8 advantage but Woodberry's three point capped an 8-0 run for Molloy to cut their deficit to one (17-16). The Lady Lions took their first lead (26-25) of the game after a lay-up by junior Betsy Bordes (Elmont, NY) with 6:42 left in the half. Over the next five minutes, the Lady Lions outscored the Golden Lions, 12-3 to go ahead by eight points (37-29). At halftime, Molloy had a five point (37-32) cushion.

The Golden Lions kept chipping away at their deficit and made it a one point game (44-43). A three pointer by sophomore E.J. Dreyer (Floral Park, NY) sparked a 9-0 run and gave Molloy a 10 point edge (53-43) as 12:11 remained on the clock. The Lady Lions kept their distance from Dowling to come away with the 80-61 conference victory.

Woodberry led all players with 28 points and 17 rebounds. Dreyer ended the game with nine points and eight rebounds, while Jones and senior Randi Bender (North Bellmore, NY) each pitched in with eight points.

Molloy returns home on Saturday, February 2 to host C.W. Post. The East Coast Conference game will begin at 1:00 PM.
