SOFTBALL HELPS OUT AT LOCAL LINDENHURST CLINIC
LINDENHURST, N.Y. The Molloy College softball team assisted at a local clinic on Wednesday in Lindenhurst, N.Y. The Lions worked with girls between the ages of 7-13 over the course of two three-hour sessions on fielding, batting and mechanics. In addition, Molloy hosted a skills and pitching camp of its own last week on campus.
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. The 2010 East Coast Conference preseason softball poll was issued by the league office on Friday, and Molloy College was selected fourth in the tally, totaling 38 points in the process. The Lions, who were 21-26 overall and 10-8 against ECC opposition in 2009, entered last years league tournament as the No. 5 seed. They upset second-seeded Adelphi University before falling to No. 1 seed Dowling College. C.W. Post was tabbed as the league favorite after winning the title a year ago.

Head Coach Susan Cassidy-Lyke of the Molloy College softball squad recently announced the signings of Nicolette Sinagra and Lauren Alexander to National Letters of Intent starting in the 2011 season. Sinagra was referred to as one of the best softball players in New York City that few have heard of by Five Boro Sports, while Alexander was dubbed as an All-County honoree following her junior campaign.

WANTAGH, N.Y. The Molloy College baseball, softball and womens lacrosse teams participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer five-mile walk last Sunday at Jones Beach in Wantagh, N.Y. The American Cancer Society puts this event together annually to help for raising awareness and funds for a great cause. As for "Making Strides", the walk has described the amazing progress everyone is making to put an end to the severe disease.

CLEVELAND, OHIO Last week, the Athletic Directors Association announced its recipients of the 2008-09 Academic Achievement Award for Division II, and Molloy College had 29 of its student-athletes recognized out of a total of 4,020 across 115 institutions. In order to obtain this honor, the student-athlete had to achieve a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better. They also needed to attend the institution for at least two years, and be a member of an intercollegiate team during his or her previous academic year.

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - On Saturday afternoon, the Molloy College softball team had its season come to an end as the fifth-seeded Lions lost to the fourth-seeded Golden Lions of Dowling College in the East Coast Conference Tournament by a final product of 5-2 at the NYIT Sport Complex in Old Westbury, N.Y. With the defeat, the Lions wrapped up the year with an overall mark of 21-26. As for the Golden Lions, they improved their record to 33-17.

Sophomore pitcher Lauren Urbont threw a gem on Friday afternoon as she hurled a complete game shutout to put the No. 5 seed Molloy College softball team past No. 2 seed Adelphi University by a 2-0 decision in the East Coast Conference Championship at the NYIT Sport Complex in Old Westbury, N.Y. With the win, the Lions ended a 10-year drought by getting their first triumph in post-season action since 1999.

The East Coast Conference announced its year-end award recipients for softball on Thursday afternoon, and Susan Cassidy-Lyke was picked as the coach of the year by her peers in the league. This marks her first-ever award for softball on the collegiate stage. Freshman third baseman Josette Cavallaro and junior catcher Tiffany DAlessandro concurrently got All-ECC second- and third-team laud, respectively.

On Wednesday, freshman third baseman Josette Cavallaro hit 1-for-3 at the plate, but it wasn't enough as the fifth-seeded Molloy College softball team fell to No. 4 seed New York Institute of Technology, 5-0, in the opening round of the double-elimination East Coast Conference Championship in Old Westbury, N.Y. With the defeat. the Lions went to an overall mark of 20-25. The Bears improved to 35-23-1 on the year.
