CAVALLARO LANDS ECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONORS

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 30, 2009) – On
Monday afternoon, the East Coast Conference selected freshman third
baseman Josette Cavallaro (North Babylon, N.Y.) as
its Rookie of the Week for softball. This marks the second time
that she has won the award from the league after receiving the nod
on March 17. Cavallaro raked two home runs and seven RBI in six
games, while posting a batting average of .500. She also notched a
.950 slugging percentage and a .565 on-base percentage.
She picked up at least one RBI in five of the six contests she
played in. In the twin bill against then 21st-ranked Le Moyne
College on Monday, Cavallaro batted a combined 4-for-6 with two
RBI. Then, on Thursday, against Concordia College, she amassed
three RBI, three hits and a pair of runs scored in a clean sweep.
Ultimately, in a doubleheader loss to ECC foe Mercy College on
Saturday, Cavallaro notched three hits in five at-bats during the
nightcap, while collecting two RBI and two runs scored.
This season, she leads the Lions with a .429 batting average, 27
hits and 18 RBI. Cavallaro has also checked in with nine runs and
two long balls. In the nation, she is slotted 15th in doubles per
game with an average of 0.43. Furthermore, Cavallaro currently owns
a .667 SLG% and a .471 OB%.

tomorrow when Molloy takes on St. Thomas Aquinas College at
Lions’ Field in Rockville Centre, N.Y. First pitch for Game
