SOFTBALL SPLITS NON-CONFERENCE DOUBLEHEADER WITH HOLY FAMILY

PHILADELPHIA, PA-The Molloy College softball team took game one, 6-3, while the Tigers of Holy Family University won game two, 5-1 in a non-conference doubleheader on April 17. The Lady Lions now hold a 18-18 overall record, while the Tigers are 14-14.
Junior Florence Williams (Tallahassee, FL) knocked in sophomore Tiffany D'Alessandro (Wantagh, NY) and capped a three run second inning for the Lady Lions. Holy Family took back two runs in the bottom of the inning to make it a 3-2 game. The Tigers tied the game at three in the fourth inning but Williams and sophomore Shannon Skeggs (Massapequa, NY) crossed the plate during the fifth to take the 5-3 game. An RBI single by junior Nicole Losito (Ozone Park, NY) added an insurance run for Molloy in the seventh and Molloy took the game one victory. Junior Amanda Havdoglous (North Babylon, NY)picked up the win on the mound as she pitched a complete game with nine hits, one earned run, no walks and a strikeout.
During game two, Holy Family scored early as they placed three runs on the scoreboard during the first inning. The Tigers took a 4-0 lead in the third inning. A double by Havdoglous allowed freshman Allie Sydor (Glen Cove, NY) to cross the plate for the Lady Lions lone run of the game. Holy Family notched one more run to come away with the 5-1 win.
The Lady Lions return home to host Philadelphia University on Saturday, April 19 for a 1:00 PM doubleheader.
