SELDEN, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2009) - Sophomore Katherine Geldert (Malverne, N.Y.) snatched a first-place ribbon in the walk-trot on Sunday as the Molloy College equestrian squad took part in the Stony Brook University Show at the Olde Towne Equestrian Center in Selden, N.Y. Fellow sophomore Theresa Hempstead (East Rockaway, N.Y.) also competed in the walk-trot, but placed fourth. Both riders were in the top class for that event.
Freshman Mary Migliore (Syosset, N.Y.) took home second-place honors for her ride in the novice fences, and wrapped up the day in reserve in the novice flat. Junior Erica Krilov (Woodbury, N.Y.) and sophomore Megan Larkin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) each posted a third-place finish. Krilov's was in the intermediate fences, while Larkin's came in the open flat. The Woodbury native also had a fifth-place showing in the intermediate flat.
Head Coach Carole Gerrity and the Lions return to action next Sunday when they host their annual show at the Thomas School of Horsemanship in Melville, N.Y. The riders will commence saddling up at 9 a.m.
