EQUESTRIAN HOSTS THIRTY-FIRST ANNUAL HORSE SHOW
MELVILLE, NY- The Molloy College equestrian team hosted their thirty-first annual horse show on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Thomas School of Horsemanship in Melville, NY. The nine members of the team, captains Patrice Castillo (Wantagh, NY) and Meaghan White (Hicksville, NY), Georgette Durand (Forrest Hills, NY), Brian Knobler (Bethel, CT), Deborah Pisano, Meghan Murphy (Levittown, NY), Carissa Swany (Deer Park, NY), Jessica Kilcommons (Baldwin, NY), Sara Rhindress (New Hyde Park, NY), and Danielle Peterson (West Islip, NY), along with former captain and Molloy alumni, Tina Rocco ('05) and Rachel Kaczorowski ('07), generously assisted the 31st annual horse show. The horse show hosted eleven colleges, which included Dowling, St. Joseph's, Columbia, Hofstra, Nassau, Fairfield, Yale, Stony Brook, Sacred Heart, and NYU for a total of 172 entrants. The day began at 6 a.m. with the grooming, tracking and warming up of the horses, and ended at 7:30 p.m. with the rubbing down and grooming of the same wonderful horses from Thomas's School and Olde Towne Equestrian Center.
Fairfield University took home the Champion Team Ribbon and the Reserve Team was New York University. The High Point Rider of the day was Stephanie Schmidt of Stony Brook and Elysse Ruschmeyer of Fairfield University earned the Reserve ribbon. With home field advantage, Molloy's riders rode the best of the season, bringing home many ribbons including blues for White and Durand.
Molloy will compete in Leonia, NJ, at the final show of the fall season, hosted by Columbia University Horse Show at the Bergen Equestrian Center.
