HUPFER RECEIVES ECC MENS CROSS COUNTRY SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR KUDOS

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Jan. 29, 2010) –
Sophomore Ryan Hupfer (Hicksville, N.Y.) of the
Molloy College men’s cross country team was honored on Friday
afternoon as the East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
He was also one of six ECC student-athletes from the fall season to
take home this accolade. In addition, Hupfer is currently majoring
in History, and sports a 3.61 grade-point average at Molloy.
By far, his best course run of the season was at the St.
John’s Invitational on October 18. In the 5k, Hupfer posted a
clocking of 17:58.53, which was good for a second-place finish. His
other solid showing came earlier in the year (Sept. 12) at the C.W.
Post Invitational. Hupfer reached the line in a 23rd-place time of
31:20.02.
Head Coach Al Kilfoyle and the Lions wrapped up the 2009 season
with a pair of top finishes as well as a plethora of new records.
