JOHNSON’S THIRD-PLACE LONG JUMP PACES MEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD AT WAGNER INVITATIONAL

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Apr. 2, 2011) – Freshman Joe Johnson (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) came in third place out of 21 runners in the long jump on Saturday as the Molloy College men's outdoor track and field squad partook in the Wagner College Invitational, which was held at Wagner Stadium in Staten Island, N.Y. He leapt a distance of 6.31 meters, just five inches short of New York City College of Technology's Kayode Joseph for first.

Molloy also had two runners notch a third-place finish. Senior Patrick McCabe (Garden City Park, N.Y.) posted a clocking of 1:56.83 in the 800-meter run. He was joined by freshman Ryan Healy (Syosset, N.Y.), who had an eighth-place effort (2:02.74), and junior Michael Colucci (Oceanside, N.Y.) in ninth place (2:03.11). Freshman Baffour Obiem (East Meadow, N.Y.) was third in the 110-hurdles after crossing at 15.88.

Obiem also competed in the 400-meter dash, and placed fourth with a time of 11.45. The trio of Healy, McCabe and Colucci along with graduate Matthew Badamo (Floral Park, N.Y.) ran in the 4 x 800-meter relay, and came away with a fourth-place performance (8:38.63). Badamo also competed in 1,500-meter run, and clocked in a mark of 4:05.01, good for fourth place as well.

Head Coach Al Kilfoyle and the Lions return to the track on Friday (Apr. 8) when they take part in the Rowan University Open in Glassboro, N.J. The meet is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
