VISSICHELLI RACKS UP ALL-ECC SECOND-TEAM HONORS
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – For the second time in as many years, Molloy College senior defenseman Joe Vissichelli has picked up All-East Coast Conference second-team recognition, as selected by the league's 11 coaches on Wednesday. Vissichelli, an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America second-team pick in 2011, led the Lions with 47 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers on the season.

MEN’S LACROSSE WRAPS UP SEASON WITH 13-2 LOSS AT NO. 2 C.W. POST
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Junior midfielder Pat Fanning and sophomore attackman Kenny Lutz punched in a goal apiece on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough as the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team closed its 2011 season with a 13-2 loss at second-ranked C.W. Post in an East Coast Conference clash at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y. As a result, the Lions ended their campaign at a record of 5-10 overall and a league mark of 3-7. Meanwhile, the Pioneers are now 16-1 and 9-1 in the ECC.

MEN’S LACROSSE HOLDS OFF LATE RALLY TO EDGE CHESTNUT HILL, 16-15
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Leading 16-9 with eight-plus minutes remaining in regulation, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team surrendered six unanswered tallies to Chestnut Hill College in a five-minute period, but the Lions hung on to beat the Griffins, 16-15, in an East Coast Conference tilt at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Sophomore attackman Kenny Lutz led the Lions in their offensive charge on Saturday with six goals and 11 shots.

BIG FOURTH QUARTER PUSHES NO. 8 DOWLING PAST MEN’S LACROSSE, 16-9
ROCKVILLE CENTRE,N.Y. – On a misty and dreary night at Dean G. Skelos Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. on Wednesday, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team fell to eighth-ranked Dowling College by a score of 16-9. The Lions, who fell to 4-9 overall and 2-6 in East Coast Conference action, were led by sophomore attackman Kenny Lutz, who found the back of the net three times, and sophomore midfielder Kevin Catalano, who contributed one goal and four assists.

MEN’S LACROSSE HANGS ON FOR 9-6 TRIUMPH AT WHEELING JESUIT
BETHANY, W. Va. – Up 7-3 with 13-plus minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team surrendered three unanswered goals to Wheeling Jesuit University, but secured a 9-6 win as the Lions punched home two late tallies on Saturday afternoon in an East Coast Conference battle at Bison Stadium in Bethany, W. Va. Senior midfielders Brandon Peyer and Chris Oswald scored unassisted goals just over a minute apart to seal the victory.

MEN’S LACROSSE DROPS TIGHT 11-8 AFFAIR AT SETON HILL
GREENSBURG, Pa. – Deadlocked at 7-7 with just under five minutes left in the third quarter on Saturday afternoon, Seton Hill University registered three unanswered tallies, and rattled off four of the final five goals in the game to edge the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team, 11-8, in an East Coast Conference clash in Greensburg, Pa. With the loss, the Lions slipped to 3-8 overall and 1-5 in league action. Meanwhile, the Griffins now boast a record of 6-4 on the campaign and a 3-5 ledger in the ECC.

SECOND-HALF SURGE BOOSTS NO. 6 MERCY PAST MEN’S LACROSSE, 8-4
PURCHASE, N.Y. – Down 4-3 with just over nine minutes left in the third quarter, No. 6 ranked Mercy College notched five unanswered goals during the second half to upend the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team, 8-4, on Thursday afternoon at Purchase College in Purchase, N.Y. The defeat puts the Lions at an overall post of 3-7 and an East Coast Conference record of 1-4. As for the Mavericks, they improved to 10-1 on the season, with a 6-1 ledger against league opposition.

EARLY SCORING POWERS MEN’S LACROSSE PAST DOMINICAN, 16-10
ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – On Saturday, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team went on a 9-1 run over the first three quarters to secure a 16-10 victory versus East Coast Conference nemesis Dominican College at the Dominican Lacrosse Complex in Orangeburg, N.Y. Senior midfielder Jimmy Davis and sophomore midfielder Kenny Lutz paced the Lions offensively with four goals apiece. As a result, Molloy improved to 3-6 overall and 1-3 against league opposition.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Down 8-5 with over a minute to go in regulation, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse squad scored a pair of goals just 32 seconds apart to cut the hole to one, but that was as close as the Lions got in an 8-7 loss against the No. 11 Bears of New York Institute of Technology in an East Coast Conference clash on Saturday afternoon at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The defeat drops Molloy to an overall mark of 2-6 and a league ledger of 0-3. As for NYIT, it is now 4-2 and 2-1 versus ECC opposition.

LUTZ NETS SIX GOALS AS MEN’S LACROSSE EDGES ASSUMPTION, 8-6
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Sophomore attacker Kenny Lutz tied his career-best with a game-high six tallies to help the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team put an end to its three-game skid with an 8-6 victory against Assumption College in a non-conference duel on Tuesday at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Lutz earlier recorded six goals on February 27 in a 14-7 win over fellow Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Anselm College.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Trailing 5-4 with just over 10 minutes to go in regulation, Lake Erie College rallied for three unanswered goals over a six-minute stretch to secure a 7-6 victory against the Molloy College men’s lacrosse squad on Saturday at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Sophomore midfielder Kyle Larsen scored the game-tying and go-ahead goal for the Storm, who improved to 3-1 overall. As for the Lions, they fell to 1-5 on the year.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Down by a 6-2 score in the second quarter, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team came back to trim the deficit to one in the third period, but that was as close as the Lions got in an 11-8 loss to Saint Michael’s College on Wednesday at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. With the defeat, Molloy fell to an overall clip of 1-4 on the campaign. As for the Purple Knights, they improved to a .500 ledger of 1-1.

MEN’S LACROSSE LOSES WIRE-TO-WIRE MATCH-UP WITH NO. 2 MERCYHURST, 6-4
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – On Friday, junior goalie Glenn Greubel made a career-best 14 saves, but it wasn’t enough as the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team came up shy in a 6-4 loss against second-ranked Mercyhurst College in an East Coast Conference match-up at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. As a result, the Lions dropped to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in league play, while the Lakers are now 3-0 on the year, and 1-0 versus ECC opposition.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Trailing by the score of 3-1 in the second quarter, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team rallied for six unanswered goals, and never looked back as the Lions recorded a 14-7 win versus Saint Anselm College in its 2011 home opener on Sunday afternoon at the Dean Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Sophomore attackman Kenny Lutz led Molloy in its rally bid as he notched six goals, while junior attackman Ryan Kudlek posted two of his three tallies.

MEN’S LACROSSE WRAPS UP NORTH CAROLINA TRIP WITH 9-7 LOSS TO WINGATE
WINGATE, N.C. – Molloy College senior midfielder Jimmy Davis sported a huge day, checking in five points on two goals and three assists, but it was not enough as the Lions fell to the Bulldogs of Wingate University on Sunday afternoon by a score of 9-7 at Irwin Belk Stadium in Wingate, N.C. He also recorded eight shots, and picked up four ground balls for the Lions, who dropped to 0-2 overall. As for the Bulldogs, they now sport a mark of 2-0 on the season.

MEN’S LACROSSE DROPS SEASON OPENER TO NO. 9 MARS HILL, 15-5
MARS HILL, N.C. – Senior midfielder Brandon Peyer scored two goals on Saturday to pace the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team in its season opener. But, it wasn’t enough as the Lions dropped a 15-5 decision to ninth-ranked Mars Hill College at Meares Stadium in Mars Hill, N.C. With the loss, Molloy fell to 0-1 on the season. Meanwhile, Mars Hill is now 2-0 overall on the young campaign.

MEN’S LACROSSE SELECTED SIXTH IN ECC PRESEASON POLL
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – On Monday morning, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse squad was selected to finish sixth in the 2011 East Coast Conference preseason ledger as voted upon by the league’s head coaches. The Lions also posted 56 points in the process. Defending ECC and NCAA Division II Champion C.W. Post was dubbed the favorite after notching nine first-place votes. Mercyhurst College and New York Institute of Technology received one first-place nod apiece.

MOLLOY TEAMS ANNOUNCE 2011-12 NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT SIGNEES
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – On Wednesday, the Molloy College women’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, baseball and softball teams publicized their 2012 signing classes, and a combined student-athlete total of 10 are slated to sport the Lions’ maroon and white next season. Each student-athlete will have four years of athletic eligibility, beginning with the 2011-12 academic year.

VISSICHELLI NAMED TO INSIDE LACROSSE PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA SECOND-TEAM
BALTIMORE, Md. – Senior defenseman Joe Vissichelli of the Molloy College men’s lacrosse squad was selected to the 2011 Inside Lacrosse/Face-Off Preseason All-America Team, which was announced on Saturday. He was picked as a second-team honoree for the first time in his collegiate career. Last season, Vissichelli started in all 14 games on the back line for the Lions, registering a team-leading 91 ground balls and 45 caused turnovers.

MEN’S LACROSSE TEAM PARTICIPATES IN LOCAL FOOD DRIVE
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Over the last month, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team has coordinated its first-ever food drive to assist all local families in need, and amassed 12 full boxes of meals in the process. Last Wednesday, the Lions went over to Our Lady of Loretto Parish in Hempstead, N.Y., and dropped off the boxes to the food pantry, which serves some of the homeless and less fortunate people on Long Island.
