Face-Off Yearbook - Division II Preseason Poll
BALTIMORE, Md. (Dec. 7, 2009) – Inside
Lacrosse recently publicized its preseason Top-10 for NCAA Division
II, and the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team was positioned
eighth on the tally. The magazine also released their list of
All-America honorees. Senior midfielder Albert Maione (West
Islip, N.Y.) was selected to the first-team after posting
a 2009 season that saw him register 36 points on 25 goals and 11
assists. He also had 21 ground balls and three caused turnovers in
the process.
Amongst the country, Maione was 29th last year in goals per game
(2.08), 36th in points per game (3.0) and 62nd in assists per game
(0.92). In the East Coast Conference, he ranked third in shot
average (7.75) and seventh in goal average. As for the poll,
defending national champion C.W. Post will enter 2010 slotted as
the No. 1 team in the nation. Runner-up Le Moyne College ranks
second. Rounding out the Top-5 are Mercyhurst College, New York
Institute of Technology and Merrimack College.
Head Coach Eric Petrullo and the Lions will open the new year on
February 28 when they clash with East Coast Conference foe Wheeling
Jesuit University in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The opening face-off is
slated for noon.
