ADA NAMES ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNERS FOR DIVISION II
CLEVELAND, OHIO – Last week, the Athletic Directors’ Association announced its recipients of the 2008-09 Academic Achievement Award for Division II, and Molloy College had 29 of its student-athletes recognized out of a total of 4,020 across 115 institutions. In order to obtain this honor, the student-athlete had to achieve a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better. They also needed to attend the institution for at least two years, and be a member of an intercollegiate team during his or her previous academic year.

GALANTE WINS 2009 NCAA DIVISION II STATISTICAL TITLE FOR ASSISTS PER GAME
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – This week, senior midfielder Keith Galante of the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team was proclaimed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association as the 2009 National Statistical Champion for assists per game in Division II. He dished out an assist average of 3.31 to claim the crown. For the Lions, this marks their second stat title in the spring season as junior midfielder Kristie Sosnowski of women’s lacrosse got it for draws.

BOVE AND NEMBHARD RETURN FROM “A JOURNEY OF SELF-DISCOVERY”
ORLANDO, Fla. – From May 24-27, sophomore Jackie Bove and sophomore Lincoln Nembhard of the respective Molloy College women’s and men’s lacrosse teams went to the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association Student-Athlete Development Convention in Orlando, Fla. The convention, which was themed as “A Journey of Self-Discovery”, turned out to be quite an experience for both student-athletes.

GALANTE DRAFTED BY LONG ISLAND IN MLL COLLEGIATE DRAFT
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Last night, senior midfielder Keith Galante was a fourth-round selection of the Long Island Lizards in the 2009 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft, which was held on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. He was announced as the 34th overall pick, and is the first player from Molloy College to be drafted into the MLL. Last week, Galante was honored as the recipient of the Lt. Donald McLaughlin, Jr. Award, which is given to the top midfielder in Division II.

PETRULLO APPOINTED AS HEAD MEN’S LACROSSE COACH AT MOLLOY
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – On Thursday afternoon, Molloy College announced the hiring of Eric Petrullo as the head coach of its men’s lacrosse program. Prior to this, he served as an assistant coach for the Lions under the tutelage of former coach Joe Catalanotti from 2008-09. Petrullo was also an assistant coach at Holy Trinity High School, and is presently the Town of Hempstead Lacrosse League Coordinator and Lacrosse Camp Head Counselor.

GALANTE AND MAIONE RECEIVE USILA ALL-AMERICA DISTINCTION
PERRY, N.Y. – On Tuesday afternoon, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its All-America teams, and the Molloy College men’s lacrosse squad had two of its players make the cut. Senior midfielder Keith Galante was selected to the first-team, while junior midfielder Albert Maione earned second-team honors. For Galante, this is the second consecutive season that he got recognition from the USILA after being dubbed a second-team all-star in 2008.

KUDLEK NAMED ECC ROOKIE OF THE YEAR; FOUR OTHERS PLACED ON ALL-ECC ROSTER
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – On Wednesday, freshman attackman Ryan Kudlek was dubbed the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year as the league gave out its year-end awards for the 2009 season. Four other members of the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team grabbed All-ECC distinction as well. Along with Kudlek, senior midfielder Keith Galante anchored the way after receiving first-team recognition.

FIRST-HALF SCORING RUN PUSHES NO. 7 MEN’S LACROSSE PAST DOMINICAN, 16-9
MILLBURN, N.Y. – Senior midfielder Keith Galante led all players with seven points off four assists and three goals to lead the seventh-ranked Molloy College men’s lacrosse squad past East Coast Conference foe Dominican College on Saturday afternoon by a 16-9 final at the Torne Valley Sports Complex in Millburn, N.Y. Galante added six shots on goal as well in the regular-season finale.

NO. 5 MEN’S LACROSSE FALLS ON THE ROAD TO NO. 2 C.W. POST, 16-5
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Junior midfielder Matt Dolan and freshman attackman Ryan Kudlek notched two goals each on Saturday as the fifth-ranked Molloy College men’s lacrosse team lost by a 16-5 final to second-ranked C.W. Post at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y. With the loss, the Lions dropped to 9-3 overall and 2-3 in East Coast Conference action. As for the Pioneers, they improved their ledger to 12-1 on the year. C.W. Post is also 5-0 against league opposition.

NO. 4 MEN’S LACROSSE COMES UP SHORT IN 11-9 LOSS TO NO. 8 DOWLING IN ECC BATTLE
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – On Saturday evening, the fourth-ranked Molloy College men’s lacrosse team had its three-game winning streak put to an end by eighth-ranked Dowling College, 11-9, in an East Coast Conference match at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. With the loss, the Lions fell to an overall record of 9-2 and a league mark of 2-2. As for the Golden Lions, they returned to over .500 ball at 6-5. Dowling improved to 2-2 as well in the ECC.

GALANTE BREAKS ALL-TIME SCHOOL MARK FOR POINTS AS NO. 4 MEN’S LACROSSE ROUTS PACE, 17-9
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Senior midfielder Keith Galante shattered the school mark for most points in a career at Molloy College on Wednesday afternoon as the fourth-ranked Lions’ men’s lacrosse team beat Pace University by a 17-9 final at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Galante came into today’s game tied with former player Dom Toscano at a point total of 165. He set the record with an assist on Albert Maione’s man-up goal with 6:52 left in the first period.

DOLAN’S GAME-WINNER LEADS NO. 5 MEN’S LACROSSE TO 8-7 VICTORY AGAINST NO. 5 MERCYHURST
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Knotted at 7-up with less than a minute left in the contest, junior midfielder Matt Dolan of the fifth-ranked Molloy College men’s lacrosse team registered the game-winning goal with 36 seconds remaining to lead the Lions by the also fifth-ranked Lakers of Mercyhurst College, 8-7, on Saturday afternoon at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Senior midfielder Keith Galante gave the feed off to Dolan on the play.

MEN’S LACROSSE JUMPS UP ONE NOTCH IN USILA DIVISION II POLL
PERRY, N.Y. – After sitting in sixth for the last 14 days, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team moved forward one spot in this week’s United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association tally to fifth. They are tied with Saturday’s opponent and East Coast Conference foe Mercyhurst College. With a flawless record of 8-0, Le Moyne College sports the No. 1 ranking. The Dolphins remain undefeated following an 11-3 win over the Falcons of Bentley College on Saturday in Syracuse, N.Y.

LATE CHARGE PROPELS NO. 6 MEN’S LACROSSE TO 13-12 EDGING OF ADELPHI IN ECC ACTION
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Trailing 12-10 with over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the sixth-ranked Molloy College men’s lacrosse team earned three goals in a span of 1:46 to secure a 13-12 win versus East Coast Conference arch-rival Adelphi University on Saturday afternoon at Competition Field in Garden City, N.Y. With the victory, the Lions improved to 7-1 overall, and 1-1 in league play. As for the Panthers, they fell to 4-5 on the year. They also dropped to 0-1 in the ECC.

FOURTH QUARTER COMEBACK GETS SPOILED; NO. 1 NYIT BEATS NO. 6 MEN’S LACROSSE, 16-15
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Trailing 15-9 heading into the fourth quarter, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team ran off five unanswered goals in a period of eight minutes to cut the shortfall to one. But, the sixth-ranked Lions’ rally was shut down on Saturday by junior attacker Austin Carino of the top-ranked Bears of New York Institute of Technology with a tally at the 3:06 mark to go ahead 16-14. Eventually, NYIT claimed a 16-15 victory against Molloy in Rockville Centre, N.Y.

DOLAN SCORES FOUR GOALS AS NO. 6 MEN’S LACROSSE DRIVES PAST FARMINGDALE, 13-5
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Junior midfielder Matt Dolan found the back of the cage a game-high four times on Wednesday afternoon to push the sixth-ranked Molloy College men’s lacrosse team past Division III program Farmingdale State College, 13-5, at Rams’ Field in Farmingdale, N.Y. With the result, the Lions remain undefeated as they went to an overall mark of 6-0. The Rams fell to 3-4 on the campaign. They have also dropped two of their last three decisions.

HUMANN TABBED AS ECC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – On Tuesday afternoon, the East Coast Conference made its announcement of weekly award-winners for men’s lacrosse, and senior Robert Humann was selected as the league’s best goalkeeper for the second straight week. He earns the award after turning aside a game-high 23 shots to help Molloy College to a 16-3 win versus Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday afternoon in Manchester, N.H.

BELMONT, Calif. – Tied at 4-4, senior midfielder Albert Maione registered the game-winning goal on with 3:21 left in regulation to lead the sixth-ranked Molloy College men’s lacrosse team past Notre Dame De Namur University, 5-4, at Koret Field on Tuesday evening in Belmont, Calif. With the win, the Lions have now won three in a row, and are 3-0 on the year. As for the Argonauts, they fell to an overall ledger of 4-1.

MEN’S LACROSSE MOVES UP IN LATEST USILA AND LAXNEWS TALLIES
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its most recent Division II men’s poll on Monday, and Molloy College jumped up three notches this week to No. 6. In the LAXnews ledger, the Lions went from sixth to fifth. This comes after Molloy topped Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 16-3 in Manchester, N.H.

He also raked a 4.45 goals-against average and a .692 save percentage in 53-plus minutes of action.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - Although it has yet to play a game this season, the Molloy College men's lacrosse team was slotted eighth this week in the LaxNews Division II poll and ninth in the ledger issued by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. The Lions earned 11 points in the USILA tally, which is four better than Belmont Abbey College and Limestone College.

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – On Tuesday afternoon, the Molloy College men’s lacrosse team was chosen to place sixth in the East Coast Conference Preseason Coaches’ tally. The Lions come off a 5-8 year with a 1-5 mark in the league. The team scored 135 tallies in all, an average of 10.39 goals per game.

They were the Lions' women's basketball, softball, and men's and women's lacrosse squads - all of which brought in at least two each.

MOLLOY ATHLETICS RAISES OVER TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR MAKE-A-WISH
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Last Sunday, the Molloy College Department of Athletics raised over $2,000 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation by hosting the third-annual Long Island Fall Tournament at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Including the Lions, six other teams competed to aid the cause.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – On Sunday, Molloy College will serve as the proud host of the third-annual Long Island Fall Lacrosse Tournament, which will take place at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. It will put seven teams against one another for a great cause as all proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The entrance fee for the competition is $5.
