MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TAKES SECOND AT ECC CHAMPIONSHIPS; WALSH AND BADAMO EARN ALL-ECC SECOND-TEAM ACCOLADES

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 25, 2009) - On Sunday, the Molloy College men's cross country squad finished up second in the five-mile run at the 2009 East Coast Conference Championships at C.W. Post in Brookville, N.Y. The Lions took in superb runs from graduate Matthew Walsh (Wantagh, N.Y.) and senior Matthew Badamo (Floral Park, N.Y.) as they came in ninth and 10th-place, respectively. For their efforts, they each garnered All-ECC second-team kudos. Overall, the Lions registered 75 points as a team.

Walsh sported a clocking of 28:39.60, while Badamo crossed less than one second later (28:40.30). Coming in seven behind Badamo was freshman Nick DiBenedetto (Wantagh, N.Y.). The Wantagh native ripped the tape in a time of 29:51.90. The next three runners for Molloy finished up in succession. Sophomore Michael Colucci (Oceanside, N.Y.) came in 18th-place (30:20.60). Freshman Guy Murolo (Garden City, N.Y.) finished 19th at a mark of 30:28.50. Lastly, sophomore Ryan Hupfer (Hicksville, N.Y.) ripped the tape in 20th-place (30:37.90).

Head Coach Al Kilfoyle and the Lions return to action on November 7 when they compete in their final run of the year in Boston, Mass. - the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships. The time of the men's race has yet to be determined. More information will be released as it becomes available.
