MENS CROSS COUNTRY TAKES HOME 12TH-PLACE RUN AT CONNECTICUT COLLEGE INVITATIONAL

WATERFORD, Conn. (Sept. 26, 2009) –
Graduate Matthew Walsh (Wantagh, N.Y.) ripped the
tape at a 39th-place clocking of 26:34 in the 8k as the Molloy
College men’s cross country squad came in 12th-place out of
16 teams at the Connecticut College Invitational, which took place
at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn. Overall, the
Lions accumulated a score of 338 points. Tufts University took
first place at 48 points. The mark for the Wantagh native also
proved to be a new school record.
Senior Matthew Badamo (Floral Park, N.Y.) ran his
way to a 61st-place finish after crossing at a time of 27:03.
Freshman Guy Murolo (Garden City, N.Y.) posted a
102nd-place showing at a mark of 28:20. Freshman Nick
DiBenedetto (Wantagh, N.Y.) placed 116th (28:39), while
rookie Daniel Brennan (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) came in
at 122nd (28:56) to cap the Top-5 for Molloy. Sophomore
Ryan Hupfer (Hicksville, N.Y.) added a 131st-place
run as he clocked in at 29:10.
Head Coach Al Kilfoyle and the Lions return to action next
Saturday when they travel up to Newburgh, N.Y. for the Mount Saint
Mary College Invitational. The gun is scheduled to go off at 11
a.m.
