WALSH AND BADAMO FINISH IN TOP-10 AS MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TAKES SECOND AT 2009 C.W. POST INVITE

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 12, 2009) - Graduate Matthew Walsh (Wantagh, N.Y.) registered a second-place showing, while senior Matthew Badamo (Floral Park, N.Y.) posted an eighth-place run in the 8k to propel the  Molloy College men's cross country squad to a second-place taking at the C.W. Post Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Brookville, N.Y. As a team, the Lions recorded 68 points. The host Pioneers won their own race as they notched 28 points.

Walsh clocked in at a mark of 28:52.79, while Badamo crossed the tape in a time of 29:20.34. Freshman Guy Murolo (Garden City, N.Y.) came in 15th at 30:20.59. Less than a minute later, the grouping of freshman Nick DiBenedetto (Wantagh, N.Y.), as well as sophomores Michael Colucci (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Ryan Hupfer (Hicksville, N.Y.) ended their race together in a three-second stretch at 21st, 22nd and 23rd-place, respectively.

Junior Patrick McCabe (Garden City Park, N.Y.) placed 25th at a clocking of 31:38.60. Freshman Eric Wong (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) followed McCabe after reaching the finish line in a mark of 31:39.45.

Head Coach Al Kilfoyle and the Lions return to action next Saturday when they travel back to Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. for the New York Institute of Technology Invitational. The gun is scheduled to go off at 10 a.m.
