BRENNAN SELECTED AS ECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 20, 2009) - On Monday afternoon, the East Coast Conference dubbed freshman Daniel Brennan (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) of the Molloy College men's cross country team as its rookie of the week. Brennan's performance in the St. John's University Invitational on Sunday at Cunningham Park helped the squad capture first place in what continues to be a stellar season for the Lions.

This was Brennan's fourth race for the team this season. At the meet, Brennan ran to a fifth-place finish in the 5k race, crossing the line in a time of 18:09:56. Brennan's fifth position was one of three Lions to finish in the Top-5 as sophomore Ryan Hupfer (Hicksville, N.Y.) came in second and classmate Michael Colucci (Oceanside, N.Y.) finished one place ahead of him in fourth.

The victory was the second overall win for the men's team this season. Following this past run, he was part of another first-place finish at the Blue Knight Invitational in Newburgh, N.Y. on October 3 as he raced to a 39th-place finish in the 8k race.

Head Coach Al Kilfoyle and the Lions return to action this Sunday as they compete in the East Coast Conference Championships at C.W. Post in Brookville, N.Y. The starting pistol is set to go off at 11 a.m.
