      <description>ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - One week since being named the East Coast Conference Player of the Year, senior midfielder Jose Batista of the Molloy College men's soccer squad earned Daktronics All-East Region first-team recognition to tack on to his accolades for 2009. The selection committee, which is comprised of the Sports Information Directors from the Central Atlantic, East Coast, and Northeast-10 conferences, made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.</description>

      <description>CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - The East Coast Conference announced its year-end honors on Monday morning for men's soccer, and senior midfielder Jose Batista of Molloy College was dubbed the offensive player of the year by the league. Batista claims the honor after posting a 2009 campaign that saw him rake a team-leading 28 points on 12 goals and four assists. He also led the ECC in points per game at an average of 2.0. Meanwhile, two other Lions landed their names on the All-East Coast Conference roster.</description>

      <description>OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Trailing 2-1 with just over 30 minutes to go in the second stanza, the Molloy College men's soccer team scored two markers in a 15-plus minute span to down New York Institute of Technology, 3-2, on Wednesday at President's Stadium in Old Westbury, N.Y. Senior midfielder Jose Batista earned the deciding goal in the 76th-minute on a feed from sophomore midfielder Daniel Patino. With the win, the Lions closed out the 2009 campaign at 7-8-1 overall.</description>

Meanwhile, Hunter registered a pair of victories in net - one of which was his first-ever collegiate win.</description>

The Lions have now gone to an overall record of 4-7-1 and a league mark of 1-3. They also have losses in four of their last six games. As for the Knights, they snapped a two-game skid, and improved to 8-5 on the year. Queens is also 2-2 in ECC action.</description>

The victory improves Molloy to 4-5-1 overall and 1-1 in East Coast Conference play. It also halted a two-game skid. As for Mercy, it went to 2-6 and 0-2 against league opposition.</description>
