TWO SECOND-HALF TALLIES LEAD C.W. POST PAST MEN’S SOCCER, 3-1

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 10, 2009) - Tied at 1-up at the break, C.W. Post scored two late goals in the second period to beat the Molloy College men's soccer team by a score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at the C.W. Post soccer field in Brookville, N.Y. The Pioneers now own an overall mark of 6-5-1 and an East Coast Conference record of 2-2. As for the Lions, they fell to 4-6-1 and 1-2 against league opposition. Molloy has also lost three of its previous four contests.

C.W. Post got its opening marker of the second half in the 80th-minute as rookie Betim Bajrami (Helsingborg, Sweden) sent a penalty kick into the lower-right corner of the netting. Eight minutes later, the Pioneers tacked on an insurance marker by sophomore midfielder David Carlsson (Gothenburg, Sweden). Down 1-0 in the opening half, Molloy tied the score with 16:57 left. Freshman midfielder Paul Ferrandino (Valley Stream, N.Y.) kicked a ball into the top shelf from six yards out.

Between the pipes, sophomore netminder Carlos Barros (Mineola, N.Y.) made a game-high six saves for the Lions. Graduate goalkeeper Shane Flanagan (Lattingtown, N.Y.) knocked down four shots for the Pioneers. Overall, C.W. Post owned a 12-9 margin in shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Head Coach Danny Longo and his squad return to action this Wednesday when Molloy closes its three-game road trip in Flushing, N.Y. at ECC nemesis Queens College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
