Box Score vs. Bridgeport - October 17, 2009

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Oct. 17, 2009) - On Saturday night, the Molloy College men's soccer team lost a 3-2 result in double overtime to University of Bridgeport in an East Coast Conference match-up at the Dean G. Skelos Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Purple Knights' senior forward Gilbert Bayonne (Amityville, N.Y.) notched the deciding tally for the visitors with just 30 seconds remaining in the second extra session. Senior midfielder Habib Sylla (Conakry, Guinea) was credited with the assist on the play.

The Lions (4-8-1, 1-4 ECC) reached the board first in the 37th-minute as senior midfielder Jose Batista (Rego Park, N.Y.) found the back of the net off a give-and-go pass from sophomore midfielder Daniel Patino (Valley Stream, N.Y.). Bridgeport (8-2-3, 4-0 ECC) came back with an answer early in the second stanza. Sophomore forward Patric Brundin (Gothenburg, Sweden) picked up his eighth marker of the 2009 campaign by kicking a shot that clanged off the far post, and beyond the reach of the defense.

During the 59th-minute, freshman forward Tyler De La Torre (Valley Stream, N.Y.) took back the lead for MC with a chip over Bridgeport junior netminder Milos Suljagic (Belgrade, Serbia). Freshman defender Hector Roche (Bellerose, N.Y.) was tabbed with the assist. Ten-plus minutes after, UB deadlocked the match yet again with a score by Sylla. Between the pipes, Suljagic knocked down seven shots, while rookie keeper Michael Hunter (Merrick, N.Y.) made eight saves for the Lions, who held a 26-22 margin in shots.
