Box Score vs. Felician - October 15, 2008
RUTHERFORD, N.J. (Oct. 15, 2008) - Freshman midfielder/defender Jeff Patino (Bayside, N.Y.) recorded his first collegiate tally in the 88th-minute on Tuesday to help the Molloy College men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory against Felician College at Tryon Field in Rutherford, N.J. With the win, the Lions snapped a two-game losing streak and went to 7-5-1 overall.
On the play, Patino received a pass from senior defender Josu Cabruja (Isla De Margarita, Venezuela). He then struck a shot, which found its way past the out-stretched arms of Felician (3-9) senior goalkeeper Paulo DosSantos (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), and into the back of the net. For the contest, the tally served as the nail in the coffin for Molloy, which owned a 13-8 margin in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
The deciding goal, which was his team-leading sixth of the season, came from senior forward Nick D'Alessandro (West Hempstead, N.Y.) in the 16th-minute off a cross from sophomore forward Emmanuel Gamez (Freeport, N.Y.). DosSantos stopped a game-high six shots for the Golden Falcons, while senior goaltender Ettore Morelli (North Bellmore, N.Y.) made two saves for the Lions.
Junior midfielder Graeme Roderick (Liverpool, England) led all players with four shots - two of which were on goal. D'Alessandro and senior midfielder Kieran Wallis (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) added two shots apiece for Molloy. On the Felician side of the ball, junior forward Quincy Small (Guyana) took a team-high three shots. Senior defender Lukas Fraczek (Szczytno, Poland) chipped in with a pair of shots.
Head Coach Danny Longo and the Lions return to the field this Saturday when they come home to do battle with East Coast Conference nemesis Concordia College at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
