ECC MEN’S SOCCER BRACKET SET; MOLLOY TO FACE QUEENS ON WEDNESDAY EVENING

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 3, 2008) - On Monday, the bracket was released for the 2008 East Coast Conference Men's Soccer Tournament, and Molloy College got the second seed. The Lions will face the third-seeded Knights of Queens College in one semifinal at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. at 7 p.m. The other match-up will feature top-seeded Dowling College hosting the fourth-seeded University of Bridgeport at 7:30 p.m. in Brookhaven, N.Y. on Wednesday.

The victors of the two contests will meet up in the title game on Saturday at the highest remaining seed. Tickets for Wednesday night's match will be $5 for general admission, $3 for students and $2 for senior citizens and kids, who are 12 and under. There will be no charge for Molloy students with proper identification. We also strongly encourage that Lions' fans wear maroon and white.

Molloy and Queens faced off just a week ago (Oct. 29) in Rockville Centre. In that match, the Lions downed the Knights by a score of 4-2. This season, Molloy boasts an overall record of 10-5-2 with an ECC mark of 5-2-1. It will come into the semifinal riding a five-game unbeaten stretch and a three-game winning streak.

Queens brings in identical ledgers of 10-5-2 and 5-2-1. It beat out Bridgeport for the No. 3 seed on Saturday evening with a 3-2 win in double overtime versus the Purple Knights in Bridgeport, Conn. The Knights have also gone without a loss in five of their last seven contests.

Dowling snatched the top seed and is 15-2 on the year with a flawless 8-0 record in conference action. Bridgeport claimed the fourth spot after its loss in extra time to Queens this past weekend. The Purple Knights will enter the tournament with a record of 12-5-1 and an ECC mark of 4-3-1.
